Professional from preparation to completion
Exterior painting for homes and commercial properties across Edinburgh and the Lothians, planned around access, substrate condition and the realities of Scottish weather.
Exterior paint is only as reliable as the surface beneath it. Before recommending a coating system, we inspect the existing paint, exposed timber, open joints, cracks, chalking, algae and areas where moisture may be affecting adhesion.
Preparation can include washing, scraping loose coatings, sanding, local repairs, filling, sealing and priming bare or vulnerable areas. Surrounding glass, paving, roofs, planting and neighbouring surfaces are protected according to the project.
Application is planned around the product requirements and suitable weather windows. We do not treat exterior work as interior painting carried outdoors: drying conditions, access and the movement of older materials all influence the result.
Local knowledge
Edinburgh's exposed elevations, traditional stone buildings, rendered homes and timber details experience regular moisture, wind and temperature changes. A practical specification must suit both the substrate and its exposure. Where access equipment or phased working is required, this is discussed before work begins.
Our working process
The exact specification changes from project to project, but the principles remain consistent.
We inspect the surfaces, access and condition before defining the scope.
Preparation, products and application method are selected for the project.
Surrounding finishes and occupied areas are organised and protected.
The work is applied, checked and handed over in the agreed condition.
Frequently asked questions
Suitable conditions depend on the coating and the surface. Exterior work is scheduled with the weather in mind and paused when conditions would compromise application or drying.
Yes, subject to inspection. Timber preparation, glazing details, previous coatings and access are considered before the system is specified.
Loose or failing material must be dealt with first. We assess why the coating has failed and prepare stable edges before applying a compatible system.
Access requirements are assessed for each project. Any towers, scaffold or specialist access forming part of the quotation will be identified clearly.
