A specified preparation, stain-blocking and paint system for a commercial swimming-pool interior.
From natural timber to a uniform white finish
At Whitekirk Hill Spa in North Berwick, PAINTTEC refinished the natural timber ceiling and upper timber walls within the swimming-pool interior. The system needed to address tannin staining, adhesion and the final appearance across the timber profiles.
A project-specific coating system
The surfaces were washed twice. The coating sequence then comprised two coats of Tikkurila Multi-Stop, two coats of Tikkurila Otex Adhesion Primer and two coats of Tikkurila Luja 7 Matt.
Products and application rates were checked with the Tikkurila supplier before the work. Each stage served a different purpose: isolating staining, preparing a dependable base and producing the final finish.
Controlled application across the interior
Professional airless spray application was used across the ceiling and upper timber walls. Photographs of the original timber, work in progress and completed finish document the change.
This is the specification used for this project, rather than a standard system for every swimming pool or timber surface. A new commercial project requires its own assessment of the substrate, environment, access and programme.
