Residential decorating project
Ornate Period Ceiling Painting
Careful preparation and controlled spray painting around cornices, a ceiling rose and decorative plasterwork.

Painting around original decorative detail
This PAINTTEC residential project involved an ornate period ceiling with cornices, a large ceiling rose and intricate decorative mouldings. The completed room and the application footage show the same work, from spraying in progress to the finished ceiling.
Preparation and masking were followed by controlled spray application across the complex profiles. The aim was consistent coverage while retaining the definition of the architectural detail.
Choosing the application method
A decorative ceiling has more edges and recesses than a flat surface. On this project, spraying provided even coverage across those details. Access, protection and the condition of the existing surface are part of deciding whether that approach is suitable.
For other interiors, brush and roller work may be the more practical choice. We assess the property before recommending a method and describe the preparation and surfaces in the quotation.
